The ATL-98 Carvair was a hybrid aircraft, it was essentially a Douglas DC-4, with a DC-7 tail section, with an extended and enlarged nose with an opening clam type door for vehicle use.

This aircraft was manufactured by skilled engineers working for Aviation Traders Limited when most of the work was undertaken by hand. So to undertake such a radical and ambitious programme of works stands testament to the skill of the draughtsmen and engineers of their day.
