Roy Marshall: Traffic Services Manager / Manager Riyadh
Sadly Roy passed away on 6th August 2026, he had been ill for a few weeks and passed away at home. My sincere condolences to his wife Barbara and his family, friends and former colleagues.

Roy joined Cale in December 1968 as part of the 'traffic' team. When there were just 5 people. When Cale took over BUA he went to work for the Traffic Overseas department and in '74 was posted to Paris. That was the start of a long career overseas with the airline, inc Hong Kong, Lagos and Riyadh.
Roy Remembered

From Lara Marshall-McBain (Roy's daughter)
Thank you for all your messages. I fear I am too exhausted to write back to each individually but please know we are reading them and are very grateful. My memory of dad and BCAL is him constantly singing the ‘I wish they all could be Caledonian girls’ to the Beach Boy tune! You’d think he came up with it! He loved his BCAL days. Thank you all for enriching his life. The world would be a much much better place if we could all be like my dad.

From Alan Reeves
A long time friend from Caledonian traffic and through his time at BA, he will be missed by many. We are all still finding it hard to know that Roy has passed. Like a lot of others on here we have have been friends and work colleagues for 50 years or more crossing over in British Eagle, Caledonian, BCal and BA....from Paris to Gatwick, Nigeria to Hong Kong and many places in between. A very successful Aviator, it has been a pleasure to have been a friend, farewell Roy, RIP from us all. God speed Roy

From Andy Geary Stevens
I am shocked to hear this unwelcome news. Our sincere condolences go to Barabara and the family from myself and Genevieve. Roy and I joined Caledonian together at Gatwick in 1969 and I succeeded him at several overseas stations in Africa. We were always firm friends and enjoyed each others company. We also worked together in BA for a while in Southern Routes at Waterside. He was always a real professional but at the same time very approachable and ready to share his considerable knowledge. I will never forget his phone answering technique. « Hello, this is Roy Marshall, how can I help you? » And that was the real Roy, always willing to help in solving whatever the problem might be. He will be greatly missed. My great regret at living outside the UK is that I don’t to see my colleagues back in and around Gatwick. That by no means infers that I don’t remember those with whom I have worked since 1969. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. RIP Roy and thanks for the many happy memories.
