I am so saddened to hear this. Peter and I worked alongside each other as MOCONs at Gatwick. A quiet spoken man but with a keen sense of humour. We didn’t actually work together because only one MOCON was on duty for each shift, but Peter and I would often chat for some time after each handover and I had to encourage him to leave for home, such was his love of the job that he did. He was always a complete gentleman who generated respect from all the staff with whom he worked. He freely shared his extensive airline knowledge with me and other colleagues because that was the sort of person he was. My sincere condolences go to his wife Sheila and to his family at this sad time. RIP Peter.

“I am Peter Thompson’s son, Ross.  My mother (Sheila) and I were so touched and happy to read all of your very kind comments about Peter.

This is how we remember him too, as a kind and gentle person with a lovely sense of humour.

The photograph is wonderful too, I have not seen that before.  Thank you all very much.”
