Barrie Stubbs : Flight Engineer
Sadly Barrie passed away on 6th July 2026 in Brighton hospital after a short illness. My sincere condolences to his wife Connie and his family, friends and former colleagues.
After serving in the RAF, Barrie joined BCal in the early 70's as a flight engineer on the 707's and DC10's. After leaving BCal he went into training flight crews and ground engineers with Virgin, Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong and finally MK Airlines as training manger.
Barrie Remembered

One of Barrie' s less known exploits, he took part in covert RAF humanitarian red cross flights in South Vietnam during the Vietnam war 1966. His Beverley lost an engine and landed at a forward US airstrip the aircraft was hidden away from the runway not to be seen from the air, whilst waiting for a spare engine to arrive the airstrip came under enemy fire, Barrie helped to fit the new engine and flew out safely. He will be missed.
