Captain A.C "Sam" Small

It is with sadness we learn that Sam recently passed away on 13th March 2011, our condolences go out to his family and friends. Sam was a 707 Captain and joined Caledonian Airways from BOAC in the late 1960's. He left BCal in 1972 to persue his own company and later worked in Uganda.
Sam's service was held on the 30th March at Woodvale Crematorium in Brighton
One of Nature's true gentleman. I have wonderful memories of Sam Small and have often thought of him over the years. In particular, back in the late sixties when we operated a Cally charter flight to Bermuda. I stayed with a mate who was based at BDA with Qantas (I was an ex QF Steward).
On the evening of our first day there I will never forget a launch arriving at the pier of the house of my mate's place, sirens sounding, lights flashing and the crew of our 707 in full swing. Rosie Mason was my No. 2. What a night we had. Two days later we flew empty to JFK and laughed and joked of our experience, at McCann's Bar.
Rest in Peace Captain Sam Small. My heartfelt sympathy to his family. Eddie Taylor.
