Jersey Stamps - 2009
British United Airways and Jersey Airlines
Following on the tradition of issuing super sets of stamps, in 2009 Jersey recognised the 75th Anniversary of the first flight between Southampton and Jersey, that flight made in 1934.
Despite it being many years since BCal or one of their forebears flew to Jersey, I am pleased to say that they were well represented in this special issue of stamps and commemorative covers.
If anyone has anymore stamps I would be pleased to show them here, please drop me a line anytime
The first Southampton to Jersey flight was made in March 1934 using a Dragon Rapide belonging to Jersery Airways, a forerunner of BEA.
But, happily, a DH Heron of Jersey Airlines, in BCal's lineage, made it onto the Commemorative cover.
Jersey Airlines did a huge amount to connect Jersey by air, carrying large numbers of passengers to the island.
In 1961 they carried a record number of 310,000 passengers to Jersey.
Here are the BUA and Jersey Airlines stamps also issued in 2009 as part of this 75th Anniversary series
