Here we have one of Caledonian's DC-7C's, G-ASIV, County of Midlothian, caught at Gatwick without livery. She was leased for two periods from Sabena, 06/1963 - 10/1963 and 01/1965 - 11/1965.
Following the ending of World War II many aircraft manufacturers turned their hand back to the Civilian passenger market, many converting and updating successful types used in the war for the fare paying passenger. Douglas aircraft were used the world over and easily to repair at any location should the need arise.

Both BUA and Caledonian operated Douglas types within their fleets and some examples can be seen below. A good few of BUA's DC-4 fleet were destined for use in Aviation Traders Carvair conversion program and the example G-AOFW below was one such aircraft.
