The Wally Brunn Gallery
Sadly Captain Walter "Wally" Brunn passed away on 8th April 2014. But I was doing some research in the collection and came across this speed record certificate from the FAI, Federation Aeronautique International.
This records that Captain Brunn was in command of BCal DC10 (G-BEBL) flying between Rio de Janeiro and London on 23rd January 1978. First Officer Sharp and Flight Engineer Laurie Griffiths made up the three man flight deck crew.
They attained an average speed of 895.559 kmh (556.475 mph) when covering the route in 10hours 22mins and 11seconds.
