Cancer Research Appeal - 1983
BCal staff have been proclaimed the local heroes of a national campaign to raise £1 million for a new cancer research unit at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
In just 8 weeks, a team of 50 staff raised £11,193 on behalf of the British Cancer Research Campaign’s “500” company appeal, by selling 48,000 tickets for a BCal-organised “Grand Holiday Draw”.
The original aim for the BCal total was £2,000 and BCal’s Marketing & Planning Manager-UK, Andrew Bridgeman, said the £11,193 BCal raised was sensational”. Tina Lower, BCal Purchasing, sold the most tickets, selling £326 of the BCal printed tickets.
