Reading the account of the 1975 lease to Austrian brought memories back of that time also for me, as one also involved from the engineering department supporting the operation in Vienna.
When BCal was called on again during 1981, it was for the shorter period of 2 May to 1 June. The main operation for Austrian for this lease was the approximately 30 min flight to Budapest. The aircraft operated well and no services were lost.
Capt's Jones, Earlam, Kirwan, Jarman, Hack, and finally Doug Atkins who brought the aircraft back to Gatwick at the end were from flight/ops.
The photograph was taken with Austrian Airlines liaison personnel shortly before returning on 1 June 1981.
