Ali Ball's Memorabilia

Below is a picture of the British Caledonian sign that used to be in the department store Grants of Croydon; where there was a travel agency selling BCAL tickets.

It's actually quite a long story, but many years ago after Grants went bust, a friend of mine was working in Dillons (book store) which was next door. One night after a few beers, he told me that the fire escape for Dillons actually went through Grants and because we had drunk a few beers we thought it would be a great idea to go and explore Grants as it had been derelict for many years. As he was the store manager at Dillons, he had the keys so we let ourselves in.

As we were walking around, I found the BCAL sign and "acquired" it and took it home. I plugged it in and it worked, and it still works today in my "Man Cave" on the same lamp - it has never been changed.
