British Caledonian placed an order for three A310 aircraft, with an option on three more. They were a short-lived addition to the BCal fleet, arriving in March 1984 and leaving  in 1985.

Only two were ever delivered, G-BKWT and G-BKWU, the third, G-BKWV, never made it to Gatwick. The changes in routes network being flown, left the A310 uneconomic on the routes available to it, either too big or too small for the passenger numbers.

The aircraft did a number of short flights, turning up in places like Jersey, larger than the usual service aircraft.
